Eat Your Books Cookbook Club January – March Selections
November 29, 2017 by JennyIn September we announced the formation of the Eat Your Books Cookbook Club on Facebook. We have grown to over 4,400 members and welcome all to join us.
In October and November, roundup posts highlighting the wonderful creations our members have been posting were shared. For ease in locating EYB Cookbook Club articles, I have tagged all posts with #EYBcookbookclub and include a link if you wish to Bookmark that search.
December is days away and as a reminder the books scheduled are Six Seasons or Salt, Fat, Acid and Heat. Also, throughout December please share your favorite holiday cookies and treats – your holiday treats will also be the subject of a special roundup post. If you have links to recipes for your treats, please share them on your posts in the group.
Now we are tackling 2018 and I have calculated the voting
results. As a few books aren’t available in the States until
sometime in 2018, those titles will be moved until their
publication dates. We are including a main cookbook, an online
option, a Flashback option (older title) and a baking option. In
this way, we are more inclusive and everyone can participate. As we
grow and have more participation, I may include more roundup posts
throughout the month.
The schedule for January through March is as
follows:
January
Main Title: Smitten Kitchen Everyday by Deb
Perelman.
This title delivers more than 100 new, easy-to-cook,
impossible-to-resist recipes from the beloved blogger (indexed
here) and New York Times best-selling, award-winning author of
The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook. In Hollywood,
often times the sequel is never better than the original, the same
can’t be said about cookbooks and absolutely not Deb’s
sequel. Recipes include Winter squash flatbread with hummus
and za’atar, Parmesan Dutch baby with creamed mushrooms, and
Pretzel linzers with salted caramel.
Online option: Deb’s online recipes which total 1,147 recipes at this time from her Smitten Kitchen blog which is indexed for our members.
Baking option: Anything by the baking diva, Dorie Greenspan including recipes from her Everyday Dorie online recipes, Everyday Dorie at the Washington Post, and On Dessert. Dorie Greenspan is an author that we have a complete recipe index for – 3,072 recipes!
Flashback option: The Zuni Cafe. In honor of Judy Rodgers and her legacy, I would like to challenge us all to make her Zuni roast chicken with bread salad sometime during the month of January. I will do a special post just on this event. I’ve made it several times and it is incredible and everyone should make it once.
February
Alex’s newest title is an all-in-one cooking bible for a new generation with 300 recipes for everything from simple vinaigrettes and roast chicken to birthday cake and cocktails. This book is a keeper – with recipes that appeal to a wide range of tastes and are totally approachable.

Baking option: How To Be a Domestic Goddess: Baking and the Art of Comfort Food by Nigella Lawson
Flashback option: Jamie at Home: Cook Your Way to the Good Life by Jamie Oliver
