This week: New cookbooks from Ina Garten and Yotam Ottolenghi; other must have 2022 titles; recipes; previews and giveaways

The prolific Ina Garten has a new cookbook slated for an Oct 25th release. In Go-To Dinners Ina shares her strategies for making satisfying and uncomplicated dinners. These recipes include those you can make ahead and throw in the oven right before dinner; light dinners that can be prepped ahead and assembled at the last minute; go-to family meals that can feed a crowd with very little effort and one of my favorites, “breakfast for dinner”. Ina also includes a “Two-Fers” guide on turning leftovers from one dinner into something different and delicious the second night.

The second test kitchen installment, Ottolenghi Test Kitchen: Extra Good Things by Yotam Ottolenghi and Noor Murad, will be released in September in the UK. As usual, North American editions will likely be available in October but those titles are not yet listed. The super-chef and team are back with flexible, flavour-packed dishes that all lend a little something to the next meal. Extra Good Things is rounded off with a chapter on the ‘one basics’ of desserts for us to perfect and then adapt with our favourite flavour combinations, such as ‘one basic mousse’ transformed into coffee mousse with tahini fudge. This is playing it forward, Ottolenghi style, filling your cupboards with adaptable homemade ingredients to add some oomph to every mealtime.

A few other titles that I have added recently to my 2022 preview post include: Honey Cake & Latkes: Recipes from the Old World by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Survivors by Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Foundation; Watermelon and Red Birds: A Cookbook for Juneteenth and Black Celebrations by Nicole A. Taylor; Expressions: Art in Pastry by Julie Jones (look at that cover!); Real Life Recipes by Tom Kerridge; Maggie Beer’s Autumn Harvest Recipes and Maggie Beer’s Summer Harvest Recipes are being reissued; Yum! by Nadia Lim; Yawd: Modern Afro-Caribbean Recipes by Adrian Forte; and More Mandy’s: More Recipes We Love by Rebecca and Amanda Wolfe.

The love of cookbooks is a double-edged sword. I am humming with anticipation for the great new titles headed our way and at the same time nervous about the amount of space that will be needed to house these treasures. Perhaps it is time to build an Ina barn but I’ll need a bigger cookbook library than Ina’s for sure.

Lastly, in case you missed it, this week Food & Wine Magazine did a fantastic write up on Eat Your Books and chose us as one of their 2022 Picks.

The article you link to is from March 2021 – titles change frequently. The publisher’s site has the title as I have added to library. I update the preview post every week as I find changes.
