Two weeks at EYB: Pumpkin recipes, cookbook clubs, giveaways, EYBD Previews and more

We skipped last week’s roundup as the monthly newsletter had just been published and we try to respect your inbox by spacing out our roundups and newsletters. October, my favorite month, is here, and in America, the arrival of cooler temperatures comes with an explosion of pumpkin spice everything.

What is pumpkin spice? No, isn’t one of the Spice Girls – pumpkin spice is an American spice mix commonly used as an ingredient in pumpkin pie and is generally a blend of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and sometimes allspice. It is similar to the British mixed spice. In America, every year during this season, my social media is full of memes from pro-pumpkin spicers and anti-pumpkin spicers.

Whether you mark down the days until the pumpkin spice latte hits the offerings board at your local coffee house or you are anti-pumpkin spice, pumpkins are very cheap this time of year and can be used in sweet and savory dishes.

We have over 16,000 recipes (online recipes) in our Library with pumpkin as an ingredient plus 30+ recipes for a Pumpkin spice latte (online recipes). Warm and comforting, the spices added to pumpkin recipes make the house smell cozy.

Personally, I love a pumpkin scone (my favorite recipe shown and linked above). Note: The View from Great Island blog has some of my favorite scone recipes. Don’t hate me when you find yourself making all the scones!

    Hi,

I just made the pumpkin scone. I used AP flour and used Peruvian camote flour instead of the oat flour. I came out looking perfect tasted sweet . I might use a bit more milk as it was a tad dry.
    Thanks for highlighting it!
