Fortnum & Mason 2019 Food and Drink Awards nominees announced
April 10, 2019 by DarcieFortnum & Mason has long been a resource for English cookery, providing quality ingredients to generations of cooks since its founding in 1707. The company’s annual food and drink awards celebrate the best publications and broadcasts in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Today, Fortnum & Mason announced its shortlist for the 2019 awards, given in 13 categories and judged by an independent panel of professionals.
The categories include cookery books, prose books about food, podcasts, drink books, television programs, and several categories for writers. You will find some of your favorite cookbook authors and food writers represented among the nominees. In the Cookery Book category, How to Eat a Peach by Diana Henry faces off against Shetland: Cooking on the Edge of the World by James & Tom Morton and Sight Smell Touch Taste Sound by Sybil Kapoor. Because there are several debut book categories, you may find a new favorite author as well.
Vying for the title of best Cookery Writer you will again find Diana Henry, competing against Ed Smith and Olivia Potts, while Food Writer category finds Clare Finney pitted against Hattie Ellis and Josie Delap. In the Restaurant Writer category the competition is between the perennially-popular Jay Rayner, Marina O’Loughlin, and Tom Parker Bowles.
