#CookforSyria Recipe Book Worldwide Giveaway

Purchasing #CookforSyria Recipe Book will be a gift to yourself. It is not only a spectacular cookbook, but also provides the satisfaction of donating to help the Syrian humanitarian effort as all profits from the sale of this book is donated to charity.

When I first received this book, the cookbook lover in me was taken with the beautiful photographs and delicious sounding recipes. When the full gravity of the situation that is occuring in this area of the world and the hope that the profits from the sale of these books will provide to UNICEF’s Children of Syria Fund hit me, it was heartwrenching. It is a small thing to do – to buy a cookbook that has the potential to save lives and bring comfort to those whose daily existence is filled with suffering, pain and unspeakable acts of terror.

Another title I should mention is Soup for Syria: Recipes to Celebrate Our Shared Humanity by Barbara Abdeni Massaad which was released in October of 2015 with a similar goal – to help those in need using food as a medium. At our very core, we all have the same basic needs: shelter, food and the knowledge that our loved ones are safe and healthy. Most of us are fortunate that we enjoy these things on a daily basis. The food community has found a way to help those whose basic needs have been obliterated. Food is a universal comfort and now a tool to spread awareness and raise money for aid.
#CookForSyria is home to a collection of generations’ old recipes donated by Syrian families as well as Syrian-inspired recipes donated by celebrity chefs and cookbook authors. More information can be found on my article from December. Thanks to Serena Guen, the editor of this beautiful book, for sharing a link to a recipe for Grilled Marinated Neck of Lamb with Pisto and Hummus that we can try now.

Eat Your Books is donating two copies of this book in our giveaway today open to members worldwide. I, personally, am offering two copies of this book as well – that makes a total of four books that are available in this giveaway. Even if you have this book yourself, please help us by sharing this post and spreading the love.

One of the entry options is to answer the following question in the comments section of this blog post:

What recipe from the index would you try first?

Please note that you must be logged into the Rafflecopter contest before posting or your entry won’t be counted. If you are not already a Member, you can join at no cost. The contest ends at midnight on May 10th, 2017.

Probably the pigeon breast with beet root, harissa and labneh. Harissa and labneh are two of my favorite things from this region. I'd sub the pigeon for chicken breast though. First, I've never had pigeon and second highly doubt I can get that here.

The "Falafel with winter slaw & yoghurt " really grabs my imagination. We love Brussel Sprouts, but rarely do anything too exotic with them. The combination of these ingratiates – satsuma oranges; celery; Brussels sprouts; red onions; mint; parsley; dried chickpeas; coriander leaves; cumin seeds – is very intriguing!

  • lsgourmet  on  April 29, 2017

Easy for me to choose, meatballs with sour cherries. I had this once years ago in the house of a coworker. Unbelievable flavor!

  • Cattyb  on  April 29, 2017
