Behind the scenes from an Ottolenghi photo shoot

Yotam Ottolenghi

Ottolenghi fans are eagerly anticipating the release of his next cookbook, Plenty More, a technique-focused book set to hit bookstores in September (UK) and October (US). For those who can’t wait that long, The Happy Foodie takes us behind the scenes of the photo shoot  for the book. Not only do we get to see a few raw photos and a video from the shoot, we learn there are are approximately 100 recipes in the book and that black garlic is one of the ‘new’ ingredients to be featured.

It would be an understatement to say that Ottolenghi is popular with EYB members (Plenty sits atop the EYB member bookshelf rankings). So EYB members will be excited to learn that (as we did for Mark Bittman and Rose Levy Beranbaum) we plan to have a complete index of all available Ottolenghi recipes.

We hope this news and the behind-the-scenes glimpse will tide you over until the fall/autumn release of Plenty More.

Hadn't realized that Ottolenghi's Plenty had knocked Julia off the throne! Must have happened pretty recently. Though I'm a big fan, and the book's on my shelf too, it's a little sad, in an end-of-an-era kind of way. Mastering the Art of French Cooking has been up there at the top since I joined EYB in mid-2010, and probably from the beginning.

And to reinforce the twilight-of-the-gods feeling, I now see that Jamie Oliver has passed Joy of Cooking; Irma and Marion will probably never return to the top three. Time's arrow…

Cheer up, Ellabee. When you count the members who have the set of volumes I & II, Julia is still well ahead, with a total of 3157 for volume I.
