Marzipan shortbread! Two of my favorite sweets.

My family is very German (father and both sets of grandparents). My Oma made many cookies each Weinachten and I have continued the tradition. I can’t wait to try Anja’s version of some these same cookies (e.g. zimsterne my favorite), but the first recipe I think I want to make is the “fire tongs punch”. My parents actually had a Feuerzangenbowle and I remember the excitement of watching the burning sugar cones when I was a kid.

I think I’d try the Cheese and Poppy Seed Rolls in homage to my aunt and uncle who were considered “Holy Rollers” when they joined the group to make Potica Bread (Slovenian) at Easter. The addition of cheese can only make it even better!
