Eat at the Bar Promotion

We all would love to travel the world, right? But financial constraints, work obligations, and personal situations make that difficult. This morning after watching an episode of Uprooted in which Sarah Sharratt traveled from her rural home in France for a few glorious days in Paris, I almost emptied the bank accounts and ran away from home. Instead, to placate my urge to wander, I escaped to my cookbooks. My latest journey is via Eat at the Bar: Recipes Inspired by Travels in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Beyond by Matt McConnell and Jo Gamvros.

The book is part travelogue and shares anecdotes, narrative and stunning photography from the authors’ adventures in Spain, Portugal and Europe over many years. These experiences inspired the idea and philosophy of their now decade-old Bar Lourinha  which they have created in their hometown of Melbourne.

Eat at the Bar delivers 55 recipes inspired by local farmers, providores, fishmongers and suppliers. The line-up is a best of the best from more than 10 years of McConnell’s respected repertoire of tapas and raciones that highlight garlic, pimento, salt and the best olive oil. You will feel at home and comfortable as you page through this book but you will also feel transported to these cities that have influenced McConnell’s food, drink and atmosphere of his Melbourne bar.

Our  takes you inside this title and features the following
