Pride Month: How some cookbook stores are celebrating

In the United States and most parts of the world, Pride Month is celebrated in June which is dedicated to the celebration and commemoration of LGBTQIA+ pride.

Several of our favorite cookbook stores have events planned this month.

Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks is part of the Lower East Side Pride Bookstore Crawl in New York City. This coming Saturday, June 29th, they will be participating in the third annual crawl to celebrate the diversity and resilience of the neighborhood’s indie bookshops by spending a day offering shopping discounts, special giveaways, and curated selections of queer books.

This year’s crawl features seven unique indie bookstores:

Book Club Bar
Pillow-Cat Books
Village Works
Bonnie Slotnick Cookbooks
Bluestockings Cooperative
Yu & Me Books
Sweet Pickle Books

Each bookstore will offer discounts and perks (such as free merchandise or free snacks) throughout the day. Stores will provide “passports” to be stamped or stickers as you make your way along the crawl.

Now Serving in Los Angeles just posted the following on social media:

Rizzoli Bookstore in New York is celebrating Pride with books from queer authors, starring queer stories!

I am sure there are many other bookstores and businesses celebrating so please check out and support them and our LGBTQIA+ authors – especially this month.

Note: See our 2020 post on LGBTQ+ chefs and authors.
