Guild of Food Writers 2024 winners announced

The Guild of Food Writers announced the winners of its 2024 awards at a ceremony in London at the Royal Institution. At the event, Dame Prue Leith was given the Lifetime Achievement Award, a truly deserved honor. Now on to the winning books, which are a treasure trove of excellence.

The First Book Award went to Painting the Plate: 52 Recipes Inspired by Great Works of Art from Mark Rothko, Frida Kahlo, and Many More by Felicity Souter while the winner of the General Cookbook Award was Bee Wilson’s The Secret of Cooking: Recipes for an Easier Life in the Kitchen. The latter is such a lovely book and I’m interested in thumbing through the former. If anyone who has Painting the Plate wants to let us know what they think about it, please leave a comment below.

Additional awards include Frontieres: Food and Cooking from the French Borderlands by Alex Jackson which took home the International or Regional Cookbook Award and Honey: Recipes From a Beekeeper’s Kitchen by Amy Newsome (EYBD Preview), winner of the Specialist or Single Subject Cookbook. Frontieres has popped up on several awards lists although no one has yet rated it in the EYB Library (hint, hint). You can see additional award winners on our Guild of Food Writers 2024 page. Congratulations to the winning authors!
