Introducing libraries to EYB at ALA

In Sunday’s Food News Antipasto, Darcie wrote about our experience at the American Libraries Association (ALA) Conference this past weekend – meeting hundreds of librarians, having dinner with the authors of the upcoming stunner Heartland Masala and having fun chats with EYB members who dropped by our booth.

The reaction from librarians to our new library feature was overwhelmingly positive so we are optimistic that lots of libraries will soon be offering EYB to their patrons. If you haven’t already introduced your own library to EYB, please do. Share the QR code below or copy this link — https://bit.ly/EYBlib — so they can learn how to set up a library membership.

As well as meeting the librarian attendees I checked out all the other exhibitors. Most of the cookbook publishers were there, promoting their fall books. I met up with The Charlie Cart Project, a non-profit educating children about nutrition and cooking. Check out their site to learn more and maybe get involved. We are giving them a free EYB Library membership so the educators can access our 550,000 online recipes.

Our booth neighbors were BookBrowse, a book recommendation site for fiction and nonfiction. It’s a cool site for readers and I’m definitely checking it out as I’m always looking for new books to read. They have a guide to book clubs.

Wonderful! Such a great service that you are offering and i hope you had a lot of takers. I am a librarian and had to miss ALA this year – I hope to see you in 2026! I hope you had a great time and picked up some free galleys for yourselves.

It was great – we met hundreds of librarians who seemed interested in EYB. Darcie and I felt it went well though of course the proof will be how many libraries sign up. We also met lots of EYB members who are librarians, like you SCH. I think we will definitely attend ALA in Chicago in 2026 and probably also the PLA (Public Libraries Association) conference in Minneapolis in April.

Could you please clarify cost to libraries? Is it free or is it a 250$ fee? Thank You!
