Newt A Cookbook for All – Giveaway
May 14, 2024 by JennyEnter our US giveaway to win one of five copies of Newt: A Cookbook for All by Newt Nguyen.
Newt Nguyen’s mother is a talented Vietnamese cook who worked in various Vietnamese restaurants ever since she arrived in America. Newt had his first taste of cooking when he started selling Spam musubis in high school. Every school day for three years, he and his mother would make Spam musubis. For 3 to 4 hours, they would make around 80 servings and in the morning warm them up and give them to his two employees (friends) to sell between classes and at lunch. After several stressful years, working too much, battling medical issues, he lost himself in cooking shows and videos. When Popeye’s came out with their spicy chicken sandwich and folks were waiting in long lines everywhere, he took matters into his own hands and made a video showing folks how to make a similar sandwich at home.
Newt’s relatable charm and uproarious cooking videos have taken the internet by storm and now, he invites you to step into his world, where cooking is an adventure. This debut cookbook is for everyone, with more than 75 beginner friendly yet hugely satisfying recipes.
Best known for putting out hilarious cooking videos to his more than 15 million followers online, Newt actually comes from very humble beginnings. His journey, from his tiny mobile-home kitchen, equipped with just a plug-in toaster oven and gas burner, to becoming a major TikTok sensation, is a testament to his unwavering belief: everyone, regardless of kitchen size, budget, or culinary experience, can cook a mouthwatering masterpiece.
Recipes in this title include: Butter wings, Fish sauce wings, Spam musubi (of course), Mussels in tomato sauce with toasted sourdough, Kimchi fried rice, Thai basil chicken (video of Newt making this dish on Good Morning America), and Churros with chocolate ganache. Newt’s recipes cover all borders from Mexican to Vietnamese and from easy to those that need a little effort and time. This is a great book for the beginner cook looking to create more delicious meals at home. Mashed has a great interview with Newt talking about the cookbook and his recipes.
The Thai basil chicken (Pad Krapow Gai) – pictured above – is an online recipe that you can try now.
