Flavorama Cookbook Giveaway

Enter our US giveaway to win one of three copies of Flavorama: The Unbridled Science of Flavor and How to Get It to Work for You by Arielle Johnson. In November of last year, I shared an excerpt and a bit about this amazing book and author in this article so I will not repeat that information here. Also, the author has a few events left on her schedule that we have shared on our Calendar.

Arielle Johnson is a flavor scientist (she loves flavor so much, she got a Ph.D. in the subject). Others have deemed her the “flavor whisperer”. She spends most of her time helping chefs better understand what’s going on beneath the hood of flavor and create delicious new foods. I found this interesting article about the author here and there are many interviews and podcasts featuring Arielle and I’ve listed a few of those below:

Now, in her debut cookbook, she shares this invaluable knowledge with home cooks everywhere. Mixing equal parts fun and braininess, Arielle dives into how chemistry, sensation, and craft unite to create flavor, distilling what flavor really is (molecules!) and how to get it to work for you (spotting patterns, breaking rules) in an easy-to-digest handbook.

Flavorama: The Unbridled Science of Flavor and How to Get It to Work for You is a book that all cooks can appreciate and learn from. While I love most cookbooks (not all but most), I have a fondness for these types of “gifts” that share so much knowledge and science about cooking that helps us become better natural cooks. Along with that information there are 110 recipes that utilize the science shared.

Arielle is a master and I feel I learn something new each time I pick up this book. For instance, which salt to use for which application and which other ingredients can be infused with salt such as herbs, flowers, citrus etc., how to concentrate flavor (boiling/reducing etc) and so much more.

We have a few online recipes for you to try now:

This book is a keeper and would make the perfect gift for new and experienced cooks alike.
