The Secret of Cooking – Cookbook Giveaway

Enter our worldwide giveaway to win one copy of US version of The Secret of Cooking: Recipes for an Easier Life in the Kitchen by Bee Wilson which contains measurements in both weight and volume.

Bee Wilson is a cook, food writer and journalist. Her books include Consider the Fork: A History of How We Cook and Eat, First Bite: How We Learn to Eat and The Way We Eat Now. She writes the ‘Table Talk’ column in The Wall Street Journal. She is interested in how food relates to every other aspect of human life, from history to psychology to technology.

The Secret of Cooking: Recipes for an Easier Life in the Kitchen is a book filled with her vast knowledge regarding the art of cooking from ingredients, kitchen tools, and techniques to providing 135 detailed recipes. Certain of the recipes are collected from well-known chefs and authors such as Lime and spice pound cake [Anna Hansen, Niki Awfnir]; Heavenly overnight waffles [Fannie Farmer, Marion Cunningham]; and Raymond’s butter-poached carrots [Raymond Blanc] as well as a plethora of her own recipes.

    My life hasn’t been too great for the past five years since my unexpected and devastating divorce, so the word “restorative” always catches my attention. I like white beans, and I also like anchovies, and sometimes I want salad and sometimes I don’t. So, I might make a restorative white bean stew-like dish using the anchovy dressing from the tuna salad along with the tuna. Thank you, Bee Wilson, cookbooks look like a whole lot of work so that we can eat crazy good without too much trouble.
