Ed Mitchell’s Barbecue Cookbook and BBQ Sauce Giveaway

Enter our US giveaway to win one of three copies of Ed Mitchell’s Barbecue by Ed and Ryan Mitchell along with a 6 bottle set of Mitchell’s low/no sugar BBQ sauces. Each winner will receive the book and a set of sauces!

Be sure to check out Ed’s events to see if he will be in your area.

Ed Mitchell is an American pitmaster and businessman whose frequent media appearances and advocacy for the use of heritage breed pork has earned him the title of the most “famous pitmaster” in North Carolina. Mitchell has appeared in Bon Appetit and on Throwdown! with Bobby Flay as well as National Geographic.

Ed Mitchell’s Barbecue is the first cookbook by the pitmaster who wrote the title with his son, Ryan, a pitmaster himself. Here the duo explore the tradition of whole-hog barbeque that has made Ed famous. It’s a method passed down through generations over the course of 125 years and hearkens back even further than that, to his ancestors who were plantation sharecroppers and, before that, enslaved. Ed is one of the few remaining pitmasters to keep this barbeque tradition alive, and in in this first cookbook, he will share his methods for the first time and fill in the unwritten chapters of the rich and complex history of North Carolina whole-hog barbeque.

Ed Mitchell’s Barbeque is filled with delicious and essential recipes honed over decades. And, of course, there is the barbeque – baby back ribs, smoked pork chops, backyard brisket, and barbequed chicken – all paired with lively and warmly told stories from the Mitchell family. This book is rich with the history of Wilson, North Carolina, and yet promises to bring barbeque to the next level.

We have linked to three online recipes for our Members to try now.

In addition to this beautiful book, we are pleased to offer each winner (three) a set of six no sugar/less sugar barbecue sauces created by Ed Mitchell: Low Sugar Kansas City-Style BBQ Sauce, No Sugar Memphis-Style BBQ Sauce, No Sugar Central Texas-Style BBQ Sauce, No Sugar Carolina Red BBQ Sauce, No Sugar Carolina Gold BBQ Sauce and No Sugar Eastern Carolina BBQ Sauce. This set may be ordered from True Foods with free shipping. I just received a set and have tasted the Kansas City-Style BBQ Sauce which is perfection in a bottle.

Ed also has a set of seasonings blends available at True Foods. I have tried the All Purpose Rub on chicken and it made the chicken shine. Be sure to check out these rubs if you visit the site. The bottles are huge and will last at least through a season of grilling. Lastly, Ed has a special hot sauce too!

Special thanks to the publisher for providing three copies of this title and to the author/True Made Foods for providing a six bottle set of his low/no sugar BBQ sauces for each winner in our promotion.
