This week: More 2023 book news; EYBD Previews; recipes and more

As I mentioned last week, the 2023 Cookbook Preview Listing is being continually updated. Every week or thereabouts, I will highlight a few upcoming books so you may update your Wishlist. Here are this week’s books:

Taste Kitchen: Asia: Six Flavours to Suit Every Taste by Philli Armitage-Mattin was published in the UK in September of 2022 and will be released this month in the US. Philli’s popularity was born during the Master Chef Professional 2020 series. The first fifty pages of this title is loaded with information about Asian flavors, tips and tricks to obtain a proper pantry and tools needed. Each recipe shares a photograph; equipment needed and a QR code that leads to videos to teach new techniques. Recipes include The secret katsu dunkers; Satay prawns; Red pepper and kimchi rigatoni and Japanese cheesecake. US Pub date January 24th, 2023.

Smithsonian the American Table: The Foods, People, and Innovations That Feed Us is a beautiful book filled with lovely imagery and a wealth of information. Included are 50 recipes ranging from Lobster rolls to Marionberry pie. Here we learn about Native Americans growers and chefs; are introduced to a Black chef who gained national renown and culinary influence by showcasing her skills on her own television show in segregated New Orleans; and find out how fondue to Jell-O salads to pumpkin spice (even in hummus) became national obsessions. Pub date February 7th, 2023.

Pieminister Time for A Pie: 100 Ethical, Sustainable Sweet & Savoury Pies by Tristan Hogg & Jon Simon is the second cookbook from the Pieminister folks. Pieminister: A Pie for All Seasons was published in 2011. The authors are back with more pastry recipes, tips and tricks for sweet, meat, fish, vegan and plant-based pies. Traybakes, cobblers, pot pies and more are included in this vibrant ode to all things pie. Pub date March 2nd, 2023.

Stuffed: The Sandwich Cookie Book by Heather Mubarak: What is better than a cookie? A stuffed cookie of course – two cookies sandwiched together with a tasty filling is a win-win. Here, Heather delivers 65 mix and match recipes such as Homemade Milanos; Copycat Nutter Butters; Black Forest ice cream sandwiches and loads more. Pub date April 4th, 2023.
