This week: Searching recipe titles; Waitrose Winter Food & Drink Festival; Roku Food programming; recipes and more
October 21, 2022 by JennyRecently, a member asked why he couldn’t search EYB Recipes by a particular word in the title as you can on Google. For example: title:carrots will pull up search results with the word carrot in the title, not just recipes with carrots as an ingredient.
You can do the same thing here on EYB. Go the Library tab, choose Recipes, then type in title:carrot (no spaces, no punctuation) – and all the recipes in our database will show up that have the word carrot in the recipe title. This will be helpful when you want to find recipes where the ingredient is important, not just a part of a recipe.
The Waitrose Winter Food & Drink Festival is scheduled for November 18-20th, 2022 at Tobacco Dock in London. There will be food and wine tastings, a Christmas market, live masterclasses, a kitchen disco and more. It sounds like great fun – anyone want to run away with me to London? Find out more details and purchase tickets here.
The Roku Channel is the exclusive home of Roku Originals. From award-winning scripted entertainment and engaging documentaries to new breakout unscripted series, Roku Originals gives viewers free access to bold, fresh entertainment.
Roku has a large lineup of food-related movies/programming coming soon:
October 28, 2022: Milk Street’s Cooking School: Christopher Kimball brings Milk Street’s Cooking School to The Roku Channel. With appealing, approachable recipes from around the world, Kimball and his team of experts seek to inspire home cooks to try new techniques, ingredients, and tools that will make them more confident, more successful, and more excited to get in the kitchen.
October 28, 2022: Milk Street’s My Favorite Recipe: Hosted by Christopher Kimball and Cheryl Day. Few things evoke such emotion as food shared with family. With a combination of historical context and modern culinary know-how, Christopher Kimball and James Beard Award winner Cheryl Day will help home cooks recreate lost or forgotten cherished family recipes. My Family Recipe is more than a cooking show–it’s a show about history, community, family, and memories, and how food ties it all together.
November 14, 2022: Martha Cooks: From eggs from Martha Stewart’s chickens cooked to perfection to a delicious strawberry jam made with ripe berries from her garden, Martha welcomes us onto her Bedford farm and into her kitchen to share some of her personal favorite recipes.
November 18, 2022 – The Menu: A couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) travels to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises. Dominique Crenn was the food consultant on this movie.
November 18, 2022: Emeril Cooks: Famous for bringing his creative take on Creole and Cajun cuisine to the masses, celebrity chef, author and restauranteur Emeril Lagasse is excited to be back with some of his favorite recipes.
Coming in 2023: The Great American Baking Show: Ellie Kemper and Zach Cherry have signed on to cohost the series with Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood, judges from the British version, also taking part in the series.
