Le Creuset unveils a new bread oven

Normally I might include an article about new kitchenware in the weekly ‘antipasto’ post, but I am making an exception today. The first reason is that it’s about Le Creuset, and the second is to make sure people have a chance to order one before the new items are sold out. I learned about this new product via The Kitchn, where Lisa Freedman spills the beans on the new LC bread oven (using our affiliate link earns us a commission).

This new pan has a lot going for it. The shape is optimized for bread baking, with a shallow base and a high dome. It look like it would be easier to plop your dough into the shallow bottom piece than it is to do in a regular Dutch oven, which many people use to bake bread. Additionally, the lid traps and circulates steam to create a crust that is shatteringly crisp, and the matte black interior maintains its good looks even after repeated use.

You can view the range of available colors for the bread oven on the Le Creuset website. I was excited to see that it comes in Sea Salt, which is one of my favorites. At $290 USD, this is not a cheap pan, but as with all enameled cast iron, it is a lifetime investment. Plus, if you buy bread at a high-end bakery, it won’t take too many loaves to recoup the price. There is a short video available for viewing.

If you buy the oven (or any Le Creuset products over $200 USD), enter the code BLOOM at checkout to receive two frill bowls for free. These bowls are adorable and would make a great gift for Easter or Mother’s Day.

Also, Le Creuset just launched a new color Bamboo Green. For the time being, it is only available in the UK.

I am in love with Agave. Who am I kidding, I’m in love with it all!

Interesting….. wonder if it genuinely bakes a better loaf? Concerns off the top of my head are it’s quite small and realistically only usable for baking bread. I think considering its Le Creuset the price is pretty restrained. No doubt they’ll be some YouTube vids up soon reviewing it.

Absolutely crazy price. I use a Le Creuset casserole I bought for 30 euros on eBay. Plus I can use it for other things too.

I was shopping in my local town(UK) today and went into the Le Creuset shop. The bread ovens had only just arrived that morning so they unpacked one so I could have a look. It looks stunning but was smaller than I was expecting, 24 cm base, that’s about 10 inches. They have them in the usual orange and black, no other colours here in the UK. Expensive at £220 but they have 20% vouchers at the moment. I think that will have to go on my ‘sometime in the future’ list!

Just me thinks they are a bit small – 24cm/8 inch internal diameter?

From the moment I saw the first leaked photos of this piece I knew I had to have it. I waited until I could get a good look at the Agave before ordering but ended up going with flame because most of my specialty LC pieces are flame. It should arrive shortly and I can’t wait to try it out!

Sayeater – let us know how it works. I’m getting lots of messages and comments so I splurged and ordered one and will test it out and do a follow up piece. I have the Challenger oven but I love LC so in the interest of science – I’m ordering it to test. 🙂

I love my Le Creuset pans, and this one sounded interesting, though pricey. What instantly turns me off, though, is the pattern in the pan. Why on earth would I want to brand every loaf I make with the Le Creuset name? I’ll stick with my plain cast iron Dutch ovens and their flat bottoms that work perfectly well.

Thank you! I’ve ordered my Cerise, and the two little bowls.

I just received an email that my bread oven order was canceled – due to it being out of stock. Anyone else?
