Save on an e-book bundle and support a charity

I just discovered a great deal on a bundle of amazing e-books that has the bonus of raising money for two deserving charities. The Humble Book Bundle features 30 great books from Chronicle, including Season by Nik Sharma, American Sfoglino by Evan Funke (winner of a James Beard Award for photography), Flour by Joanne Chang, Ruhlman’s Twenty by Michael Ruhlman, Bar Tartine by Nicolaus Balla and Cortney Burns and Jan Newberry, and Huckleberry by Zoe Nathan, among other outstanding volumes.

You can purchase all 30 e-books for as little as $18 (although, of course, if you can afford to give more you are encouraged to do so). A portion of the proceeds goes toward two charities: 826 National, which is “the largest youth writing network in the country, located in eight cities and online, serving 55,000 students ages 6 to 18 annually” and the Book Industry Charitable (Binc), which for over 20 years has assisted bookstore employees and owners who encounter unexpected financial crises. The offer ends in just over two weeks. Smaller bundles of 16 and 4 books are also available.

I clicked on the link and I don’t see anything there about $18 nor is there a complete list of the books offered. If you could share what you found which expands the information on this deal it would be great!

KatieK1: you click on the link, choose “Entire 30 Item Bundle” – you can click right and scroll through titles (if on mobile or scroll down and see all the titles). You then select the minimum of $18 or donate more for the 30 ebooks….then checkout. Darcie mentioned 6 of the titles other include Zingerman’s Bakery, Ferment, Once Upon a Chef, Pastas of Italy, Lavash, Model Bakery, Heirloom Beans, New Homemade Kitchen, Mastering the Art of Chinese Cooking, Saveur New Comfort Food, Baking with Less Sugar (Joanne Chang), Pasta by Hand, Country Cooking of France, Noodles Every Day, Vintage Bakery, Josey Bread Baker, Mango and Peppercorns, Muffins & Biscuits, Art of the Slow Cooker, Grilled Cheese Kitchen, Sausage Making, One Pan Two Plates, A Table (recent French cookbook) – all great books.

Thank you for this excellent find. I am in the UK and have purchased all of these books (I only had Season) for in effect the price of one book. All have uploaded into Googleplay (my personal choice) and all bar one are indexed as well! Very happy indeed. I’ll be interested to see if bundles change in future months.

Thanks, Jenny! That did not work on my Mac using Google Chrome, but it did on my iphone with Brave.

Thanks for the heads-up. I already had a few of the selections, but the ability to print individual pages is wonderful.

Great selection of books! It says use on any device. I thought this meant I could download to Kindle but I don’t see how to do this. Does anyone know how to do it?

I know nothing about Kindles, but this instruction page from Humble Bundle might help. Their help file also includes instructions for other e-reading platforms.

I also found this general help article about loading the Humbly Bundled books to Kindles.

Thank you schamber! I’ll check out those links.

I ran into the same questions! I don’t have a kindle, I just use the kindle reader on my ipad. Plus, I’m mostly an Android user, so I’m not very familiar with the iOs environment.

I found that what I had to do was open the email with the links on the iPad, download the book, in the Mobi format. Then I could open the downloaded file and share it to the Kindle app.

Some of the books don’t come in Mobi format, or they are >50 mb in size so I can’t share to the Kindle app. Those, I could download in Epub format and open in the Books app on the iPad.

What a great bundle! I only owned 3 out of the 30 (and 2 of those were hardcover so it’s nice to have e-version as well). Thank you for sharing this, can’t wait to check out all new-to-me titles.

This whole downloading process has been very aggravating. Only with extra help from the seller could I access the books, and then found out that half the books are too large for Kindles. The ones that I could download are not showing readable icons. If I had known that up front, I wouldn’t have bought the bundle.

Addendum: eventually the titles appeared but not the cover images.

Seen anything interesting? Let us know & we'll share it!
