Valentine’s Gift Guide for the Cookbook Lover & Giveaway

Today, I’ve put together a gift guide to offer some inspiration for Valentine’s Day. Along with the gift guide, I am including a worldwide giveaway prize package of a BonJour Voyager Glass Teapot, a set of BonJour Cappuccino Cups Set, and a BonJour Pro Torch along with three cookbooks Cake: Layered, Frosted, Sliced & Shared by Brooke Bell; In Love with Paris: Recipes and Stories from the Most Romantic City in the World by Anne-Katrin Weber and Rose’s Ice Cream Bliss by Rose Levy Beranbaum.

Le Creuset has a lovely collection of heart-centric cookware including this adorable little Dutch oven below.

For the tea lover and baker BonJour has a selection of stylish serving items and tools including: BonJour Voyager Glass Teapot, BonJour Cappuccino Cups Set, BonJour Pro Torch (photographed below and part of our giveaway) as well as a BonJour Coffee Pour Over Brewer and Pitcher and a BonJour Maximus French Press Coffee Maker.

The torch and perhaps a set of crème brûlée ramekins would make a fantastic gift along with a book on pastry or crème brûlée. Elegantly Easy Crème Brûlée & Other Custard Desserts by Debbie Puente is the most popular cookbook on the topic in our EYB Library. There are 291 online recipes for the decadent dessert available here.

Other ideas for dessert lovers include:

Helen Fletcher’s European Tarts: Divinely Doable Desserts with Little or No Baking shares a selection of impressive tart recipes. This set of tart pans give you several options for various sizes.

Cookies: The New Classics by Jesse Szewczyk is spectacular and paired with a set of USA baking sheets would make a baker smile. For Valentine’s Day why not bake a batch of cookies from the book to go along with.

Other books (photographed below and part of our giveaway) include: Cake: Layered, Frosted, Sliced & Shared by Brooke Bell; In Love with Paris: Recipes and Stories from the Most Romantic City in the World by Anne-Katrin Weber and Rose’s Ice Cream Bliss by Rose Levy Beranbaum.

The Silpat Nonstick Heart Mold right now is on sale at Williams-Sonoma and creates delectable heart-shaped bites. I love all of the Silpat molds especially this fluted version with the perforated baking tray.

This Nordic Ware tiered heart cakelet pan is a recent purchase of mine and I hope to make something beautiful for Valentine’s Day for my boys here at home.

Emile Henry heart shaped pie pans are beautiful.

For other ideas please see these prior gift guides.

Special thanks to BonJour for providing me with the BonJour Voyager Glass Teapot, a set of BonJour Cappuccino Cups Set, and a BonJour Pro Torch to ship to one worldwide winner. The publishers of In Love with Paris: Recipes and Stories from the Most Romantic City in the World by Anne-Katrin Weber and Rose’s Ice Cream Bliss by Rose Levy Beranbaum provided me with a copy of those titles and we purchased an extra copy of Cake: Layered, Frosted, Sliced & Shared by Brooke Bell for this giveaway.

My grandma used to always bake a special Valentine cookie. It was an oatmeal cookie, but light in color, shaped into a heart by hand, and iced with a light pink frosting. She would have my grandfather wrap each one by hand in waxed paper and send them to me when I left for college, and long after I was married. I like to bake these cookies for Valentine’s Day.

I learned to bake as a child from my beloved Grandma. I still love using her recipes 60 years later. Grandma’s rough cake is my favourite. Its a poor man’s fruit cake and called rough because the ingredients that went in it were dependent on what she had in her pantry and purse on baking day. I love the flexibility of the recipe but whatever you put in it always tastes delicious.
