Things to do when Facebook and Instagram are down

Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp (along with other sites) went down for several hours today, throwing people into a tizzy. My Twitter feed was filled with people either happy or vexed about the outage. Reading that was no fun, so I thought of a few things to do when social media programs are down:

  1. Go through your cookbooks and ‘I want to cook this’ bookmarks to the recipes you want to try (see photo above).
  2. Upload photos of recipes you have tried to the EYB Library.
  3. Mark recipes whose photos you just uploaded with ‘I’ve cooked this’ and write a note to remind yourself about any changes you made and aspects of the recipe you liked or did not like.
  4. Read recently purchased cookbooks and add recipes to your EYB ‘I want to cook this’ list and skip an entire step of tearing off pieces of credit card solicitations to use as bookmarks.
  5. Sort through your pantry and search the EYB Library for recipes to use up those ingredients near their best-by dates.
  6. Inventory your spices and make a shopping list for any items you need to replace.
  7. Search the EYB Library for recipes to use a bunch of that spice you bought last week and just discovered another jar of during your inventory.
  8. Make a batch of those cookies you can’t stop thinking about from #1.
  9. Eat cookies warm from the oven.
  10. Dust the house.

I made through #9, but Facebook came back up before I hit the last one. Darn it.

See How to Make EYB work better for you.

Haha, I actually did spend that downtime on EYB, creating bookmarks, and double-checking that I had “bookshelved” all my recent ebook purchases!
