This week: A look inside upcoming cookbooks; recipes, cookbook giveaways and EYBD Previews
August 13, 2021 by JennyThere are a wealth of delicious titles being released this year and I covered many in my Cookbook Preview for the second half of 2021. Since that preview, I have received additional electronic copies of certain books and wanted to share some insight into those as well as to alert you to a new book coming from White Lily Flour.
The White Lily Cookbook: A Collection of Recipes Using the Southern Chef’s Flour of Choice features over 70 of their most loved recipes from the White Lily Test Kitchen. This cookbook explores biscuit history and time-honored techniques, woven together with striking photography. At this time, this book can only be ordered directly from the company website and is scheduled to ship around September 15th. I have not reviewed this book yet but as many of us love White Lily flour, I’d thought you’d like to know.
Grains for Every Season: Rethinking Our Way with Grains by Joshua McFadden and Martha Holmberg is a book devoted to all things grain. Each chapter covers a particular variety: barley, brown rice, buckwheat, corn, millet, oats, quinoa, rye, wheat (including varieties), and wild rice are all here along with recipes. The book also has a chapter on go-to recipes for many grains and how to stock your larder along with resource guide. The dishes here are tempting and the imagery beautiful. The writers behind Six Seasons: A New Way with Vegetables have delivered another book that will have everyone buzzing.
Cravings: All Together: Recipes to Love by Chrissy Teigen and Adeena Sussman is slated for release in October. Adeena is back for this title which is very evident. This book reminds me of Teigen’s debut cookbook Cravings which Sussman also worked on – meaning I love the recipes. It’s vibrant and filled with global flavors and I cannot wait to make the Orange chicken fried sandwich. For those who love photos of the Teigen/Legend family you will not be disappointed.
Milk Street Vegetables: 250 Bold, Simple Recipes for Every Season by Christopher Kimball is a stunner of a book – which, of course, is what we’ve come to expect from the Milk Street team and Kimball. These recipes (many of them vegan) will inspire us to add more vegetables to our menu planning. Soups, salads, noodle dishes and more are shared here. Many of these recipes can stand on their own for a meal or be added to round out your menu. We will be covering this book in our EYB Cookbook Club in November.
