Cook with Me & How to Cook Cookbook Giveaway
January 20, 2021 by JennyEnter our US giveaway to win a copy of Cook with Me: More Than 150 Recipes for the Home Cook by Alex Guarnaschelli and a copy of How to Cook: Building Blocks and 100 Simple Recipes for a Lifetime of Meals by Hugh Acheson.
In Cook with Me Alex delivers 150 recipes complimented by insightful and heartfelt reflections. She shares dishes she grew up with, like her mom’s Classic roasted chicken with barbecue sauce, the Baked ziti that she wishes she grew up with (she had to experience it first in a restaurant – her mom refused to make it!), her dad’s Steamed pork and rice dumplings, as well as the recipe for Broccoli that encouraged her daughter to embrace and devour this divisive vegetable. Alex’s passion for food and heritage sparkles in this deliciously poignant tribute to the food that defines a family.
The week I received this book, I made the Sheet pan pork chops with spicy Brussels sprouts and it was easy and delicious. My photograph was horrible and didn’t do the dish justice (if you click on the recipe link you can view the image).
Our for Cook with Me: More Than 150 Recipes for the Home Cook features the following
- Beef and roasted poblano empanadas
- Rib-eye “Diane”
- Juicy carrot soup
- Poached eggs on cheddar biscuits with bacon and sage
- Classic chicken Parmesan
In How to Cook, Acheson sets out the cooking lessons that everyone should master into twenty-five basic building blocks: easy-to-grasp recipes that can turn anyone, young or old, into a confident home cook. Each of these recipes teaches a fundamental skill, such as roasting or whisking together a classic vinaigrette, and each stands alone as a stellar back-pocket basic. After laying the groundwork, the chef then offers recipes that expand on these foundations, whether it’s remixing the flavors of one of the basic recipes, or combining a couple of them, to show you how you can produce a lifetime’s worth of dishes.
Our for How to Cook: Building Blocks and 100 Simple Recipes for a Lifetime of Meals features the following
- Classic green salad
- Fennel and white bean salad
- Cuban grilled cheese
- Pork and chile chickpea stew with or without poached eggs
- Roasted chicken lettuce wraps
Both of these books are great additions to anyone’s cookbook library where you are a novice or experienced cook.
