Gingerbread house season is here
November 26, 2020 by DarcieIn my post on ‘charcuterie chalets’ a few days ago I mentioned that I usually find a magnificent gingerbread house to share with you during the holiday season. It didn’t take long for one to find its way to my news feed, and this one is a doozy. Joseph Daigle submitted his gingerbread house to a contest held in Newark, Maryland, and it is no surprise that he won considering his entry: a model of Notre Dame cathedral.
Daigle won the same competition in 2019 with a replica of Frank Lloyd Wright’s iconic Fallingwater residence. At the time, the contest’s hosts wondered how he could ever top that. Newark Arts Alliance Executive Director Terry Foreman wonders no more. “That was crazy. How could he top that?” Foreman said. “And, sure enough, he did,” said Foreman. If Daigle enters the competition again next year, it is difficult to imagine what he could conjure that would top Notre Dame. I hope we get to see yet another amazing creation in 2021.
