Praise the baking gods, GBBO is back!

On August 10th I was feeling down and wrote Perspective is everything – an open letter to the Great British Bake Off which reflected my deepest desires for GBBO to bring some light into our crazy, mixed-up lives.

My friend Tanya who was on the Great American Baking Show Holiday Edition in 2019 posted the above on Instagram today and I heard the angels singing! The new series starts in the UK on September 22nd on Channel 4 at 8 pm and in the US on Netflix beginning September 25th! I had read somewhere that we Americans might have to wait until 2021 for the new series. Obviously, someone loves us and wants us to be happy – this is proof. If you’ll excuse me, I am going to weep for joy. The series’ companion baking cookbook will be released in October: The Great British Bake Off: Love to Bake.

Until then you can enjoy the official trailer below.

Don’t tease me! Can it really be true?! Kidding of course, but I have been craving this show but afraid to Google it for fear of spoilers.

Too bad it’s on Netflix. See the controversy around their choice to promote “Cuties” (not the orange…). Guess I’ll miss this round of GBBO.

I don’t know what the controversy about “cuties” is about. Googling didn’t come up with anything for me. However, looking at the above cast picture and the new host picture, it looks like the usual mix of people to me. Personally, I can’t wait for it to start.

Conservatives are calling for the public to cancel Netflix because of the French film as they feel it exploits young girls. When in actuality the point of the film is to speak out against the exploitation of young girls and bring the cause to the forefront – at least according to the dozen articles I read.
