Looking to 2021 cookbooks

2021 is looking like another stellar year for cookbook lovers. This year we have books coming from Julia Turshen, Dorie Greenspan, Eric Ripert, Rose Levy Beranbaum, Zoë François, Mark Bittman (two books), Pepper Teigen (Chrissy’s mom), Carla Lalli Music, Joshua McFadden, Giada De Laurentis, Sybil Kapoor, Rosie Birket, Mary Berg, Emma Galloway, Ross Joseph Dobson, Tom Parker Bowles, Michael Smith, Chetna Makan, Bobby Flay, Heidi Swanson, Anna Jones, Abigail Johnson Dodge, Pippa and Michael James and many more!

This year is the year of plant-based books, tons of cocktail related titles and more baking – bread and desserts! Besides the authors I mentioned above, I am excited for Jessie Tyler Ferguson’s Food Between Friends, Honey & Co.’s Honey & Co: Chasing Smoke: Cooking Over Fire Around the Levant, Molly Baz’s Cook This Book, Rebecca Firth’s The Cake Book, Bake from Scratch Volume 5 (and their Pie & Tart cookbook), Vallery Lomas’ Life Is What You Bake It, and Samah Dada’s Dada Eats. Okay, I have to stop because I am going to end up listing all of them!

A few notes: The country of publication is indicated after the title/author only if not published in the US.

About once a week, I update this post with any changes in titles, pub dates, and covers, so please check back! Build those shelves!

Christopher Kimball doing Mediterranean?! Oh man, that is calling my name. Also Anna Jones and Heidi Swanson. I am making space for all those books somewhere in my house right now.

It’s so exciting to see so many plant-based/vegan books.

This last 2020 has been a challenge for all. Thank you for keeping up with EYB. I had no idea that so many books were already “in the making” so ahead of time! I need to get more shelves…

Janice – thank you! I get excited every time I update this list. I haven’t even had time to organize 2020’s books!

So excited to see new titles by Joshua McFadden, Dorie Greenspan, and… is Rose Levy Berenbaum actually publishing “The Cookie Bible”? Not sure the world will ever be the same!

So there went my cookbook budget… But Vegetarian Chinese Soul Food: Deliciously Doable Ways to Cook Greens, Tofu, and Other Plant-Based Ingredients by Hsiao-Ching Chou especially interests me. I took a class by the author where we made a couple of recipes from this. We even were invited to a tasting session for more of the cookbook. (No, I didn’t go). I mention it solely to illustrate how concerned the author is that her recipes work for the average home cook – and that she’s hit the right balance of Chinese cooking for an American audience.

      I love Hsiao-Ching’s work too!

The 30% off Phaidon link takes me to a “page can not be found” message.

We are aware, we have contacted Phaidon and hope to have this resolved in the next week.

I pre ordered a book for the first time every: moon cakes and milk bread. I have been looking for a Chinese bakery cookbook for a decade. This is the first time I ever found one!

I can see my saving dwindling again this year!
