Looking for more in-depth food videos to binge watch? You might want to try the Culinary Institute of America’s World Culinary Arts Program, a documentary series that explores the best in food and cooking around the world. The World Culinary Arts Program seeks out the gold standards of culinary traditions, examining iconic recipes of a given country, that when understood, provide a window into the whole of that nation’s culture. The series includes explorations of 24 countries or regions from Baja to Vietnam.
Following on the heels of accusations that Bon Appetit has shortchanged BIPOC employees, they recently published an interesting article in which authors Priya Krishna and Yewande Komolafe discuss how, as recipe writers of color, they are often asked to make their recipes more accessible to a white audience. In a post titled “When did recipe writing get so…Whitewashed?” the authors envision what a more inclusive system of American recipe writing might look like. For a counterpoint to the article, you can read this discussion on Reddit, where Redditors ask questions like “How the f*** are you supposed to introduce people to your cuisine without extra explanations about things?” and “Why is it whitewashing to include ingredient substitutions? Not all readers live in their parents [sic] luxury Dallas mansion, replete with a pantry of expensive ingredients.”

They will be opening their first locations in Sydney, and after those are established they will branch out to Melbourne and Brisbane.
In the “Did we really need this?” category, this week we learned that Crocs was teaming up with KFC to product a pair of Crocs that look – and smell – like fried chicken. The KFC Crocs are topped with mini drumsticks called Jibbitz, which contain the scent. The Jibbitz are removable for those fancy occasions where your feet should not smell like fried chicken.
