This comfort-food cookbook delivers more than recipes

What is better than a new cookbook? A cookbook that directs its profits to people in need! The very first electronic cookbook from Food Writers New Zealand not only offers over 40 recipes for delicious, hearty fare, it also raises money for charity. Titled ‘Cosy‘, the book is a collaboration featuring the best New Zealand food writers and is designed to help cooks navigate the winter months by bringing inspiration, direction and joy to their kitchens. Food Writers NZ is a not-for-profit organization for all professional food communicators, offering professional development, networking, support and collaboration opportunities to anyone involved in the wonderful world of food.

The e-cookbook is just $10 to download, with the option of increasing your level of donation to further benefit the charity. All profits will go to ‘Meat the Need’, a farmer-founded national charity with a goal to supply much-needed meat to city missions and food banks throughout New Zealand.

Cosy offers up a selection of hearty dishes such as Sarah Tuck’s Stormy Night Carrot, Cumin & Coriander Soup; Nadia Lim’s Turmeric & Ginger Chicken Soup; Lauraine Jacobs’ Cheesy Cauliflower & Leek Bread Pudding; Lucy Corry’s Malaysian Braised Pork Belly; Annabel Langbein’s Chicken & Ginger Noodle Bowl; Julie Biuso’s Crispy Broccoli & Potato Stacks; Helen Jackson’s Chicken Adobo; Fiona Smith’s South American Lamb & Legume stew; Ginny Grant’s Braised Chickpeas with Haloumi + Mojo Verde; and Kathy Paterson’s 2020 NZ version of The Woolton Pie, widely served in Britain during WWII, and many more mouth-watering winter-inspired recipes.

No comfort-food book would be complete without dessert, and Cosy delivers the goods here as well, with tantalizing recipes like Claire Aldous’ Frozen Berry & Apple Coconut Crumble; Fiona Hugues’ Chocolate Croissant Tray Baked Pudding + Salted Cocoa Cream; Robyn Martin’s Cake Tin Apple Pie; and Jan Bilton’s Slow Cooker Baked Apples. From the kitchens of some of NZ’s best food writers to yours, we’re sure these beautifully curated recipes will encourage you to snuggle up and get cooking.
