Aran – Flora Shedden – Cookbook Giveaway
May 1, 2020 by JennyEnter our US/UK/AU/NZ giveaway to win one of three copies of Aran: Recipes and Stories from a Bakery in the Heart of Scotland by Flora Shedden.
We all remember Flora Shedden, the youngest semi-finalist in the Great British Bake Off, Season 6 (2015). Five years later and the bake-off star has written two cookbooks Gatherings: Recipes for Feasts Great and Small and Aran: Recipes and Stories from a Bakery in the Heart of Scotland and has opened her own bakery. Aran (the Gaelic word for bread) is the name of her bakeshop which is located in an old newsagent building in the village of Dunkeld, Perthshire. Flora raised over £8,000 through crowdfunding to transform the dilapidated building into the bakery of her dreams.
As I was catching up on all things Flora, I read an article from 2015 that reported GBBO fans being upset because Flora had mentioned that she owned an “enormous” amount of cookbooks. 100. One hundred cookbooks. I had to take a break to laugh and recover from my shock that in the UK 100 cookbooks appear to be exorbitant. I can now continue filling you in about her second gorgeous cookbook!
Aran shares stories and recipes from her quaint bakery. Flora begins the book with detailed instructions on bread making including recipes for a variety of loaves. Instilling baking confidence, Flora writes that baking is instinctive and assures us that even the ugliest of loaves are delicious. Pastries, croissants, danish, eclairs, pies, breakfast fare, and more are also covered in this stunner of book that is beautifully photographed.
Our takes you inside this beautiful book and features the following
Now, more than ever, we need something beautiful and comforting to hold onto. For this cookbook lover, Aran is filled with inspiration and promise of delicious bites.
