Simple Fruit – Laurie Pfalzer Cookbook Giveaway
March 10, 2020 by JennyEnter our giveaway to win one of three copies of Simple Fruit: Seasonal Recipes for Baking, Poaching, Sautéing, and Roasting by Laurie Pfalzer in the US with EYB providing one additional copy worldwide.
I don’t know Laurie Pfalzer but I like her. She once worked her way through Baking with Julia to learn each and every pastry therein – my kind of gal. As a child, she learned to make her mother’s legendary pies and cakes and carried her passion for pastry to culinary school and professional kitchens across the US.
Our takes you inside this beautiful book and features the following
In her debut cookbook, Laurie teaches us that baking perfection is drawn from simplicity. Her mother’s aforementioned legendary pies included an apple pie without cinnamon that allowed the beauty of the fresh-picked apples to shine. It was her mother who taught her to appreciate the integrity of the fresh fruit that they baked with and those lessons are reflected here.
The book is organized by season with Spring focusing on rhubarb and strawberries. Summer glistens with cherries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, marionberries, apricots, peaches, and nectarines. Autumn comfort is found in plums, apples, and pears and winter days are warmed by freshly baked treats filled with cranberries, citrus, and dried fruits.
I have so many recipes tagged to make: Apricot-almond scones, Almond cake with warm citrus and thyme, and Bittersweet chocolate tart with blackberries and basil. I am a fool for combining herbs with baked goods and Laurie is a master of that move.
Special thanks to Sasquatch Books for providing the materials for our EYBD Preview above and for offering three copies of this title in our giveaway below. Simple Fruit gives me comfort and brings joy to my baker’s soul.
