A library for baking pans!

Those who love to cook and bake also seem to acquire excess cookware and bakeware. My heart skips a beat a new cooking pot or Bundt® pan enters my field of vision and often, more times than not, I make a purchase. Imagine if you have a single occasion to make a cake using a specialty pan and could check one out from the library? There are libraries in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin where such a set up is available.

I came across this knowledge in a baking group where the following article was shared. The Ludington Library in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Akron-Summit Library in Ohio, and the Brown County Library in Wisconsin have special sections where cake pans can be borrowed.

For those of us with bulging bakeware cabinets, this may be the answer. Approach our local library branches to start such a lending section would be a great idea and encourage others to donate pans for community use. What do you think about this idea?

    I have 5 of those pans pictured, and more! I should start a bundt pan library …

    A couple of years ago, I could have had a library for baking pans – 16 different Bundts, plus round pans in diameters from 6 to 16 inches, square pans, loaf pans, you name it. I have downsized a little but still probably have too many (if there is such a thing).

    I’m from Wisconsin, but Brown County is a little far for me to travel for a pan. I’ll talk to my local library about it. It’s a great idea.

    Our library system here in Washington County Oregon has a “Library of Things” which includes baking pans. Great idea!

    The Augusta County Public Library in Virginia loans out baking pans, too.
