Two food festivals on tap for Australians

Australians living in the Brisbane vicinity have some exciting food events coming up in the next few weeks. Up first is the second annual Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival, which is scheduled for 7-8 September. The other is the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, which features severals Food & Wine side events and runs from 20-29 September.

The Moreton Bay Festival is touted as “a showcase of the region’s finest fresh produce and artisanal products” featuring the regions’ top chefs, brewers and winemakers. Set against the stunning backdrop of Moreton Bay, the event offers both hands-on workshops and classes as well as dining experiences. You’ll find everything from food trucks to pop-up bars to market stalls.

The second event offers more great food experiencies. First held in 1949 to celebrate the end of rationing introduced during World War II, the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers has blossomed into a huge event that showcases exhibition gardens, area parks, food and wine, and arts & crafts. The list of food events includes beer appreciation, wine & cheese appreciation, progressive dinners, a BBQ tasting, and several talks by celebrity chef Adrian Richardson.

The Moreton Bay Food & Wine festival was a great weekend: Matt Sinclair & Alistair McLeod both gave great demos – the repartee between the two was fantastic – even accompanied by a much-acclaimed on-stage kiss between the pair .. maybe too much local wine????? 🙂
