Get your grill on with these tips

Pumpkin spice is in the air, and that can only mean one thing: winter is coming (at least in the northern hemisphere). Yes, I know, fall/autumn has not even started, but the long Labor Day weekend in the U.S. marks the unofficial end of summer, and pumpkin spice flavors appeared today in local Starbucks locations, both harbingers of fall. Don’t get me wrong – I love all things about the upcoming season, including the crisp morning air, striking leaf colors, and chilly evenings spent in front of the fire – but I dread what comes afterward.

That is why I will be grilling this weekend and as long as humanly possible here in the Northland (one Thanksgiving I smoked a turkey, but the snowstorm made it less than ideal). In addition to smoking ribs and brisket, I intend to venture further afield and will likely be throwing fruit, vegetables, and pizza onto the grates as well. Since I have not been doing much grilling this summer (another reason why I am not ready for the season to change), I will need a little help.

Lucky for me there are plenty of grilling guides available. If steak is on the menu, I’ll turn to indexed blog Serious Eats’ comprehensive guide to grilling steak. Should seafood strike my fancy, there is a wonderful guide to grilling seafood including fish, shrimp, and lobster.

Indexed blog Simply Recipes offers a how-to guide for grilled pizza, and the EYB Library contains indoor and outdoor pizza grilling techniques as well. Food52 provides the best methods for grilling fruit, and Kalyn Denny of Kalyn’s Kitchen gives advice on how to cook vegetables on the grill.

Whether your grilling season is winding down like mine, is just around the corner, or is in its prime, with over 14,000 grill and BBQ recipes available online, the EYB Library has us both covered.
