Cookbook giveaway – Quick and Easy Spanish Recipes

Quick and Easy Spanish RecipesThree generations of Spaniards have learned to cook through Simone Ortega’s books on gastronomy, which have sold millions of copies nationwide. She is considered one of the foremost authorities on traditional Spanish cooking and her daughter Inés Ortega has followed in her mother’s footsteps. She worked with her mother for many years and is an established and highly regarded food writer in her own right.

One of Simone’s best-known works is 1080 Recipes, first published in 1972. That book is a comprehensive collection of traditional and authentic Spanish recipes, covering everything from tortilla to bacalao. Inés and Simone updated the book in subsequent publications over the years. Now the best and quickest recipes from 1080, along with recipes from sister volume The Tapas Book, have been compiled into a new book, Quick and Easy Spanish Recipes. Each of its 100 recipes has been tested and is accompanied by a photograph. You can get a sneak peek into the cookbook with two recipe excerpts.

We’re delighted to offer five copies of Quick and Easy Spanish Recipes to EYB Members worldwide. One of the entry options is to answer the following question in the comments section of this blog post:

Which essential Spanish recipe would you most like to master?

Please note that you must be signed into the Rafflecopter contest before posting the comment or your entry won’t be counted. If you are not already a Member, you can join at no cost. The contest ends June 2, 2016.

Paella has always intimidated me! I love all Spanish food, but have never ventured out to make much of it. I'd love the opportunity to learn more about this yummy cuisine. 🙂

A good tortilla would be nice.

  • veronicafrance  on  May 6, 2016

I adore most Spanish food (not particularly keen on paella though). The recipe I'd most like to master is a classic tortilla de patatas. I've made some not bad ones, but perfection still eludes me 🙂 I'd love to add this to my burgeoning collection of Spanish cookbooks.

I've had a paella pan for several years. It's grown dusty from non-use. I think the recipe in this book just might be the one that prompts us to make a tasty paella!! Hope so!

  • lizr  on  May 7, 2016

    Absolutely paella!

  • Seren_Ann  on  May 7, 2016

I would love to make a real tortilla cooked just right… I have such good memories of tortilla eaten in spain but it never turns out quite right at home.

  • Baltiville  on  May 7, 2016

I would like to learn how to cook any Spanish items. I'm really unfamiliar with the cuisine other than paella, which I've never tried to make. I'm interested in learning new techniques to cook fish and lighter dishes.

I would like to learn how to cook any Spanish items. I'm really embarrassingly unfamiliar with the cuisine other than paella, which I've never tried to make. I'm interested in learning new techniques to cook fish and lighter dishes.

I'd like to master the use of bacala for croquettes, and for other dishes. Maybe the quality of what I've bought isn't good, or my rinsing and soaking is not good enough, it never seems quite right.

  • tikilu  on  May 9, 2016

I'm all about the Desserts…I'd love to make Catalan cream. It's much nicer than its cousin the creme brûlée. I have the perfect little pots just waiting for this recipe that I saved from Catalan cream I had bought.

Paella, to cook the rice just so, and to get the crust right without burning it.

  • dirtgirl  on  May 26, 2016

Tortilla Espaniola, I grew up in UK living next door to a Spanish lady who would hand the most amazing food over the fence to us (always) hungry mob of kids! All her food was incredible, but the tortillas were my favorites! I left UK over 45 yrs ago, but have never forgotten her delicious food!
