A cookbook (of sorts) for Louise Penny fans
March 7, 2016 by Darcie
If you are a Louise Penny fan, you’re probably excited for
the upcoming August release of her new book, A Great
Reckoning. For those new to Ms. Penny, she is a Canadian
author of mystery novels set in the Canadian province of Quebec
centred on the work of Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. Penny has
been awarded the John Creasey Dagger, Nero, and Barry Awards, as
well as two each of the Arthur Ellis, Macavity, and Dilys Awards.
Additionally, Louise has won five Agatha Awards and five Anthony
Awards. A Great Reckoning will be the twelfth book in the
Gamache series.
Although the books are mysteries, food plays a prominent
role in the novels, and fans have long requested a cookbook based
on the Gamache books. Penny’s publisher, Minotaur, has recently
announced that it would start issuing recipes from the world of Three Pines.
Every two weeks beginning March 22 (the website says 2015 but that
is a typo), Minotaur will release one recipe from each book in the
series, 11 recipes in all. An open online discussion will accompany
each of the recipes.
Following are the dates when the recipes and discussions will open for each of the places / books:
- Still Life (March 22nd)
- A Fatal Grace (April 5th)
- The Cruelest Month (April 19th)
- A Rule Against Murder (May 3rd)
- The Brutal Telling (May 17th)
- Bury Your Dead (May 31st)
- A Trick of the Light (June 14th)
- The Beautiful Mystery (June 28th)
- How The Light Gets In (July 12th)
- The Long Way Home (July 26th)
- The Nature of the Beast (August 9th)
- A Great Reckoning (new! book available August 30th)
