The 2016 Piglet cookbook contest has begun

 Piglet 2016

I’m not sure how this slipped past my radar, but Food52’s 2016 The Piglet cookbook competition has already started and one of the first round winners has been announced. The annual cookbook competition, inspired by The Morning News’ Tournament of Books, features a face off between the 16 most notable cookbooks of the past year. Over the course of 3 weeks, you will see head-to-head competitions judged by a panel that includes culinary heavyweight Yotam Ottolenghi as well as Brooks Headley, author of last year’s winning book.

This year’s competitors include some books that are quite popular with EYB Members such as A Bird in the Hand by Diana Henry, Mamushka by Olia Hercules, A Girl and Her Greens by April Bloomfield and J.J. Goode, Gjelina by Travis Lett, Near & Far by Heidi Swanson, The Food Lab by J. Kenji López-Alt, My Kitchen Year by Ruth Reichl, and The Violet Bakery Cookbook by Claire Ptak.

One of the first round face-offs is already decided, between The Violet Bakery Cookbook and A Girl and Her Greens. Visit Food52 to see the winner.
