My Paris Kitchebn

David Lebovitz began working in restaurants at the age of sixteen, ending up as pastry chef of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California. After working there for 13 years, David packed his bags and headed to France to begin a new career in writing. Since then, he has published seven books. His latest is My Paris Kitchen, and we’re delighted to offer three copies.

You can learn more about the cookbook and David’s life in France in his EYB interview.

For your chance to win a copy, just answer the following question: What is your favorite French food?

Additional rules are:

  • Please make certain you have signed in to the EYB website (you don’t have to be a paid member). This ensures that we have your email address and can get in contact with you.
  • The giveaway will expire in 4 weeks on May 9, 2014.

This contest is now closed.  The 3 lucky winners, selected by random number generator, are erasmus, Missanne and gqbrave.

I must admit that I developed a shameful & passionate addiction to nutella crepes the last time I was in Paris. Try as I might, I cannot keep my mind from drifting back to those street stall crepes eaten late at night in that beautiful city.

This cookbook is just beautiful…and as I sat on the floor of my local bookstore last night drooling over nearly every page I wondered what I'd choose to cook or bake first if it were mine! Thank you for this generous offer to win David's new glorious cookbook. I think I'd have to say, out of all my favorite French creations, that croissants are probably one of the top on the list! And….and, and……! Again, many thanks.

My French Acadian Grandmother would make Pote' on special occasions-particularly Christmas Eve. It is an old traditional dish comprising wild and domestic meat-usually rabbit and chicken, but could be pork and moose or deer-it would have a slow cook on top of the stove. The fork tender meat is in a savoury broth with a bread dough placed on top the last hour-no lifting the lid! The result would be a 10 inch high piece of white fluffy heaven that you cut in wedges and pour the rich stock and meat on top.

  • Mesdaile  on  April 30, 2014

Having read many of David's earlier books and articles this new tome promises to be another fabulous read. My favourite French food (so many to choose from) is duck! The French are able to deliver almost the entire bird to your plate in so many delicious dishes. Think foie gras , pate, confit, magret de canard and salads of geziers! After traveling for a month in the Perigord and Dordogne regions I ate more duck than ever before in my entire life! I would love to add this beautiful new book by David to my collection .. and return for another gastronomic tour of this beautiful country.

I have not had much French Food at all (being vegetarian). Funny, since my grampa was French. One thing I love and make a lot of, however, is rustic breads. I could live on that with cheese and fresh fruit.
