In their article, Six tablet apps for making the perfect Thanksgiving dinner, TechHive has some great apps for iPads and other tablets that are applicable not only for Thanksgiving but for all holidays and even everyday cooking. As they write: “These apps will help you at every step, from picking recipes and planning a menu, to cooking multiple dishes at one time, to figuring out what to do with 20 pounds of leftovers.” For complete details, check out the article; in the meantime, here’s a rundown:
- Fine Cooking’s Thanksgiving Menu Maker (free, iOS): recipes, timetables, shopping lists, tips
- Mahalo‘s Thanksgiving Recipes HD ($2.00, iOS, Android): video tutorials
- BigOven‘s 250,000+ Recipes and Grocery List (free, iOS, Android): more generic, not just for holidays, particularly useful for how to use up leftovers
- Epicurious Recipes and Shopping Lists (free, iOS, Android): no-nonsense recipe app
- KitchenPad Timer ($1.00, iOS); customize five burner and four oven timers with dish names, special ring tones, etc.
- Time to Roast ($1.00, iOS): How to roast anything and everything, adapts to country specifics as to temperature and weights.
If you check one of them out, let us know if there’s one that’s particularly fun. And if you have another favorite app, please share.
