Loco for local
May 11, 2010 by SusieThe summer cookbooks have been rolling in and holy guacamole! It’s farmer’s markets and local foods, left and right. And it’s not just the cookbook authors and advocates anymore. There’s Fast, Fresh & Green by Susie Middleton. Melissa’s Everyday Cooking with Organic Produce from the famous produce company. Eating Local by the folks at Sur La Table, Edible from the Edible Communities magazine people, EatingWell In Season from Eating Well Magazine–even Emeril! king of the packaged seasoning jar, has a farmer’s market cookbook (Farm to Fork). There’s even a very scrumptious-looking book of Farmers’ Market Desserts.
Gone are the days when you had to grab some illegible xerox copy of a spaghetti squash recipe, pinned under a rock at a market table. With books like these (and EYB’s search capacity), there’s no excuse for not just buying whatever looks good…
