Uyen Luu is a writer, cook, photographer, food andprop stylist and cookbook author. She holds supper clubs and cooking classes in her studio with Vietnamese menus and also does a monthly takeaway. Her first cookbook My Vietnamese Kitchen is a dream which we are in the process of indexing as well. The Banana fritters in that book are to die for.
When I discovered Uyen was releasing another title, I was thrilled. Vietnamese: Simple Vietnamese Food to Cook at Home is approachable and filled with dishes that include quick weeknight dinners as well as sweet things. The book is organzied as follows: Ăn Cơm – Things to Eat with Rice; Sharing Vegetables; Proper Salads, Vietnamese Style; Feasting; Heavenly Noodle Soups; Quick Midwest Meals; Sweet Things; and Basics.

If you are new to Vietnamese cooking, Uyen can guide the way to successful dishes. If you are an old pro, you will enjoy the more elaborate dishes in the Feasting section such as Beef pho (Phở bò) or Chicken pho (Phở gà) which take some labor and effort. I am a huge fan of Vietnamese cuisine and cannot wait to spend more time with this new title.
