Art of Eating prize winner announced

Today the magazine Art of Eating announced the winner of its annual prize for best food book of the year. It’s the sensational Black Sea by Caroline Eden. In her review, Jenny noted several reasons to love this book:
- the author’s gift for the written word which spirits the reader away to the locales rich with history
- stunning photographs of the people, landscapes, markets and dishes of Odessa, Istanbul and Trabzon
- recipes that are approachable and inspiring and leave the cook and those who are gathered at their table satisfied
Jenny also noted that Black Sea “is a magical journey that only writers such as Caroline Eden can provide.” The contest judges agreed. Helen Rosner wrote that “The food in Black Sea is wonderful, but it’s Eden’s prose that really elevates this book to the extraordinary…I can’t remember any cookbook that’s drawn me in quite like this.” Congratulations to Caroline Eden on this well-deserved honor.
