The absolutely best way to dry herbs
September 7, 2012 by LindsayAbout this time of year (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) gardens are beginning to show wear and tear. And that’s especially sad for those who love just plucking fresh herbs when you need them – or buying them in bunches at the markets – and dread having to use store-bought dried herbs that are drab and may be musty. Here’s a tip from King Arthur’s Flour on how to dry fresh herbs so they’re as close to fresh as possible, in just 30 seconds. In their words:
“There’s a fast, simple way to preserve your garden-fresh herbs – their flavor, AND their color.
The secret?
Your microwave.”
They give precise instructions (and some great recipe ideas) for parsley, tarragon, and mint, plus general ideas for any other herbs you’d like. Check it all out here.
