Oranges are in season now – and a nice alternative to holiday cookies for snacking. And thanks to Jewel Pie we have a way to peel them without having to gouge the skin with your fingernail – just roll them out as a strip.
Full explanation and photos can be found at an Easy way to eat mandarin oranges (without peeling!). (Lifehacker, in their reference to this article, noted that this also works well with naval oranges.) Essentially, you cut both the top and bottom of the orange – without cutting too deeply into the flesh. Cut a slit on the side, and then gently roll the orange out in a strip.
Enjoy!
