Are you set for St. Patrick’s Day?

St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow, and people all around the world will be “Irish for a day” as they celebrate with traditional Irish food and a lot of green-hued items. If you haven’t landed on what you will be making for the occasion, the EYB St. Patrick’s Day Pinterest board has a lot to offer. You will find everything from a simple Irish cabbage side dish to Soft and fluffy blaas to Marzipan leprechaun hats.

There are plenty of traditional items like soda bread and corned beef there as well as a plethora of cute desserts like Green velvet cupcakes. You can look beyond Irish recipes if adding green to the menu is your goal. Guacamole is always a welcome addition to any party spread. There’s also green hummus (for those who aren’t purists), and a lovely kale pesto white bean dip

Speaking of pesto and moving to the main course, you can choose from a plethora of green pesto pasta dishes. There’s also secret green sauce spaghetti. If you don’t want pasta, how about soup? You can’t get much greener than green pea, lettuce and fennel soup. If you want to keep some traditional St. Patrick’s Day foods on the table, serve your corned beef with a refreshing, and very green, gremolata. What foods will you be eating to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day?

My husband is a very good baker, and when our daughter was competing in Irish dance as a kid and teenager (she’s now in college), the events would sometimes include a soda bread competition. He entered three times, and won three times. So, definitely making that and serving it with Kerrygold butter. And we have an Irish baking book, Bread and Butter, so I’ll be looking in there for inspiration and ideas that remind me of going to Ireland (we emigrated to the US when I was a child) to visit my cousins and aunts and uncles.
