Dorie Greenspan says a new cake book is in the works

Dorie Greenspan delighted her fans with an announcement sent earlier today to subscribers of her xoxoDorie Newsletter on Substack. It’s time to make some space on your bookshelf, and she confessed that she had been sitting on a secret: she is working on a new baking book. With a working title of Kitchen Bakes, it focuses on simple cakes for snacking and sharing.

After giving a shoutout to EYB (thanks!), Dorie said she’s partnering again with publisher Harvest Books, who (under the Houghton Mifflin and Rux Martin imprints) have published the bulk of Dorie’s many cookbooks. Her long-time recipe tester Mary Dodd will join the team for this book (her 15th), as well as a new collaborator, illustrator Nancy Pappas. The announcement included two examples of Pappas’s work.

Now for the bad news: the book won’t be released until autumn 2025. Until then, fans will have to settle for occasional Substack posts that share some of the ups and downs of putting together a baking book – Dorie said she would be updating subscribers about the process over the next several months. Very interesting! It seems like the latest trend in baking books is super easy and snackable with the likes of Jessie Sheehan, Yossy Arefi, and Sarah Kieffer. Excited to see Dorie’s take on the subject.
