Yotam Ottolenghi’s new cookbook – Comfort and events

Exciting news! As I mentioned in our January cookbook review, Yotam Ottolenghi has a new book scheduled to be released this fall written with Helen Goh, Tara Wigley and Verena Lochmuller.

Ottolenghi Comfort will be released in the UK in September and in the US and CA in October. UPDATE: Just added to Amazon – a US edition with the UK cover: Ottolenghi Comfort [Alternate Cover Edition].

From the Ottolenghi site:

“The new book is the work of ‘four hungries’- each bringing their own memories, childhoods, and travels with them to explore what comfort food means to them. With over 100 irresistible recipes, Ottolenghi Comfort is a celebration of food and home, the connections we make as we cook, and the dishes we pass on from generation to generation.

This is comfort food, Ottolenghi-style; a bowl of pasta becomes Caramelised onion orecchiette with hazelnuts and crispy sage, a warming soup is Cheesy bread soup with Savoy cabbage and cavolo nero, and a plate of mash is transformed into Garlicky aligot potato with leeks and thyme.“

The author has events planned in the UK/Ireland, North America and Europe. These events have been added to our calendar as follows: UK/Ireland, North America and Europe. Tickets for events can be purchased on the Fane website.

You may also preorder a signed copy of the book from the Ottolenghi website to be one of the first to receive a copy of the book. In the past, I have always received my order a week before publication date. As a bonus, customers ordering with the shop will receive exclusive access to a video Q&A session with Yotam and the co-authors. They’ll be sharing insights into their favourite recipes, the inspiration behind them and cherished memories, while enjoying a feast with hero dishes from the book.

    I love the UK cover, so I’ll be ordering from across the pond!

      I always do as well. I buy a copy for Jane and myself as a gift. Let me know if you have any problems ordering – I never have but this time I am having difficulty. I’m emailing with the shop to resolve this issue.

    As usual they give North America the second-rate cover. I want to see the market research data that says we only buy books with pictures of food or people on the cover. We like beautiful books too!! *rant over*

    They’ve done North America dirty with that cover. I’d love to ask the publisher why they feel the need to give North America their own cover instead of using the gorgeous UK cover

    Since I can use metric measurements and weights and since I know what “courgette” and “aubergine” mean, I think I will join you all in getting the gorgeous UK version. I guess focus groups must show that Americans want photos of food, because this “art on the UK cover, food on the US cover” thing has been going on for a while.

    Update: the US is offering an alternate cover edition. It’s the US book with a UK cover – see the post for a link. Confirming with my contacts.
