Father’s Day recipe ideas
June 17, 2023 by DarcieTomorrow is Father’s Day in the US, UK, and Canada, part of a three-day weekend in the US with the Juneteenth holiday falling on Monday. For many families that means the perfect excuse to do outdoor cooking, meat on the grill, and picnic fare. If you plan on making something special but are out of ideas, head over to Delish to view a spread of 65 easy recipes to celebrate the dads and father figures in your life.
The collection includes plenty of grilling ideas from chicken under a brick to all-in-one foil packets. If you don’t want to cook outdoors (much of the US and Canada is suffering from poor air quality due to wildfires), there are many indoor options as well. You’ll also find a smattering of vegetarian dishes so it’s not completely meat-centric.
Our air is hazy (although thankfully improving) and it’s hot, so we will be staying indoors. Since I bought a pork shoulder (aka pork butt) I will likely make it in the oven or slow cooker. The Slow cooker carnitas tacos from Cooking Light Magazine shown above caught my eye as I scrolled through the EYB Library looking for non-grilling ideas. If not carnitas it will be pulled pork sandwiches with a South Carolina mustard barbecue sauce. What’s on your Father’s Day menu?
