Kid-friendly Father’s Day recipes
June 17, 2021 by DarcieSunday is Father’s Day in many countries and for a lot of families that means outdoor cooking, meat on the grill, and picnic fare. No doubt millions of burgers and steaks will find their way onto plates, but kids might want to make their dad a special dish themselves, and that’s where America’s Test Kitchen steps in. They have a list of kid-friendly recipes perfect for Father’s Day.

The list includes breakfast, dinner, snack, and dessert recipes, so there are a lot of options from which to choose, including flapjacks, nachos, and cobbler. All of the recipes are designed to be easy to make and clean up. Since another adult will have to help (and that might be you!), this is good news. But if none of those recipes fit the bill, you can use the ATK ideas as a springboard to search the EYB Library for recipes in your cookbook collection (or available online) that will work.
My dad always enjoyed a good burger and a baked potato piled with toppings on Father’s Day (he was the quintessential ‘meat and potatoes’ guy), and my mother and I would make him a strawberry dessert as well. My dad liked strawberries but my mother hated them, so she normally wouldn’t make anything that included them, with an exception made for Father’s Day. When I got older, I could make strawberry treats myself, which pleased both my parents and my younger brothers, who also liked the fruit. Since my dad is no longer with us, I will make a strawberry dessert in his memory this year, perhaps the Strawberry-pistachio tart from Baking at République. What’s the special dish on your Father’s Day menu?
