Restaurateurs Daniel Humm and Will Guidara call it quits

After over a decade of working together, restaurateurs Daniel Humm and Will Guidara have decided to part ways, according to Eater. The pair met in 2006 when Humm was the chef and Guidara the manager of Danny Meyer’s Eleven Madison Park. They eventually partnered with investors to buy out Meyer and went on to open several other successful restaurants.

While under Humm and Guidara’s guidance, Eleven Madison Park was named the top restaurant in the world by World’s 50 Best in 2017. Their other eateries, including the NoMad, have also been highly lauded. Rumors about the split have swirled for months with representatives for the pair denying that anything was amiss. Today those rumors were confirmed as staff were informed that Humm is buying out Guidara.

“Over the years, we’ve been together for the greatest highs and achieved so many of our shared goals. But as in many relationships – individuals grow apart,” they said in an email to staff. They also reassured staff that there are no plans to close any of the restaurants. Guidara, who is married to Milk Bar’s Christina Tosi, has plans to work with “industry veterans” in a new hospitality group.
