An unconventional CEO pens a cookbook
December 6, 2018 by DarcieCelebrity cookbooks are not new, but one that passed through my newsfeed today was a bit different from the rest. Usually celebrities who pen cookbooks are in the entertainment industry and posses a huge following on social media. Since they are already in the spotlight, they don’t mind letting people into their daily lives, which means cooking. Today’s news was about a cookbook from an unlikely source – the CEO of a telecommunications company, John Legere of T-Mobile.
Legere is known for being a rebel in the industry, so perhaps
this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. And, as millions of
people supposedly already know, Legere has been hosting a weekly
Facebook Live cooking show called “Slow Cooker Sunday” for the past
couple of years. T-Mobile says that the program gets over 5 million
views every week, and allegedly Legere’s fans have been clamoring
for a cookbook.
Those fans will be delighted to learn that for the low price of $19.99 USD they can now purchase a copy of #Slow Cooker Sunday – Leadership, Life, and Slow Cooking with CEO and Chef, John Legere, directly from the T-Mobile website. The book’s announcement said that the “book includes 52 of Legere’s favorite recipes, mixed with his advice to take from the office to the kitchen.” Most of the recipes are not Legere’s own creations, but rather are culled from a variety of websites and blogs.
T-Mobile isn’t looking for this to become a new source of revenue for the company and neither is Legere hoping to profit from the book, as net proceeds will go to the charity Feeding America. For now, you can only purchase#Slow Cooker Sunday – which features a forward from none other than Martha Stewart – from the T-Mobile website, although shipping is free.
